Teaching for faith, knowledge and vocation.
Our motto: CARITATE ET CONSTANTIA

 Dear Student,

Welcome to Apor Vilmos Catholic College Vác, the 1000-year-old city and Episcopal see, home to our high level education maintained by the Diocese of Vác. “Caritate et Constantia”, our Latin motto means: “with love and steadfastness”. This is our mission – teaching for faith, knowledge and vocation.

Apor Vilmos Catholic College has been accredited with excellent qualification by the Hungarian Accreditation Board at institutional and faculty level. Our curriculum is set according to current laws; consequently the diplomas issued by our institution are all recognised by the state. In the spirit of the college there are religious subjects which comply with the accreditation’s requirements for the diploma. There is also a vestry for pastoral care at the college.

Our ethnic minority teacher training is considered to be very important. We run our German minority pre-primary teacher and lower primary teacher training with Austrian help and extensive German relations. It is possible to learn both Lovari and Beás languages in Romany studies. We are the only teacher training college where Romany studies are compulsory for all teacher trainees. We take special care of our ethnic Gipsy students, helping them to become well-trained specialists. Our commitment to families is an integral aspect of all subjects taught. One of our college’s main attractions is the drama pedagogy training, making use of Hungarian folklore traditions and aiming to provide future teachers with a creative and playful attitude in education.

Our college is named after Vilmos Apor, the martyr bishop, who sacrificed his life to protect children, women and families (during the Second World War) when the Soviet  soldiers invaded the cellar of the Episcopal palace in Győr. We believe we can help our students to learn appropriate parental roles in the family. In adult education we consider the foster parent training program very important, which is carried out jointly with the Hungarian Maltese Charity organisation. Our rural tourism training – which is committed to the values of the environment and the countryside is a training planned together with the Gönczöl Foundation – which reinforces our efforts to keep values and traditions alive. With our social workers training, closely connected to the traditions of the Diocese of Vác, we aim to provide new generations with expertise in the field of social work.
