The ERASMUS, established in 1987, is one of the most popular European Union (EU) programmes. It forms a major part of the EU Lifelong Learning Programme 2007–2013 and it funds co-operation between higher education institutions across Europe. All the 27 EU member states, the three EEA countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) and Turkey take part in it.

Within the framework of ERASMUS higher education students, professors and even staff members can participate in international exchange programmes. This opportunity can enrich the participants' lives in the academic and professional fields, but can also improve language learning, intercultural skills, self-reliance and self-awareness.

At the same time, and it is one of the major aims of the EU, their experiences give participants a better sense of what it means to be a European citizen. In addition, many employers highly value such a period abroad, which increases the students' employability and job prospects.

The general experience proves that the programme has beneficial effects, both for the people participating and for the home and host institutions.

HÖK (Hallgatói Önkormányzat - Student self-government)

The interest of our students is represented by the HÖK. It plays an important role in organizing student programmes at AVCC.
The most significant regular programmes:

• “Fox Camp” – for the freshmen of the College
• “Ball of the Freshmen”
• “Dormitory Days” – for the dormitory students
• Santa Claus Celebration
• Christmas Party
• College Days
• Spring Camp

 During the semesters the HÖK organises regular programmes, club activities:

• “Pé-Club” (Cellar Club) – open for board games, billiard, darts,  (weekday evenings)
• Film Club (In Pé-Club – once a week)
• Readers Club (In Pé-Club)
• Religious programmes                      
• Tea-evening
• Life-questions without taboos
• Barbecue & guitar parties
• “Táncház” (Dance-parties – Hungarian folk dance)

 The HÖK publishes a monthly paper – called “AD HÖK” which intends to provide actual information to students.

The HÖK also operates a regular playgroup named “Menő Manó” at weekends for the children of the correspondent students. These children are supervised by our kindergarten teacher students.
